Entertaining On The Fly

I'm getting ready for an out-of-town girls weekend tomorrow and was trying to think of something fun to bring. I thought I would try my mom's trick of fast sangria.

Trader Joe's sells a bottle of pre-mixed sangria.

Then you can also buy bags of frozen fruit. These contain mango, papaya, raspberries, blueberries and pineapple. Yum!

Then just add them together in a fun container. It takes no time at all!

Cheers!

Tablescape Thursday

I'm so excited to do my first Tablescape Thursday. I regularly check out Between Naps on the Porch every Thursday to see all the beautiful and inspiring tablescapes of other bloggers. Hopefully I keep this up and participate every week.

During our move a couple of weeks ago I came across a set of dishes that I completely forgot I had. They are a bridal themed set of dessert plates that I had received at my own bridal shower. So I decided to do a tablescape for a bridal luncheon. I have 5 friends that will be getting married in the next year so this tablescape may come in handy in the future.

All of the glasses and the pitcher were also wedding gifts.

After opening these dishes, I realized that each plate had a different picture on it. This one is of the bride & groom.

Champagne flutes.

A flower bouquet.

And a wedding cake. (each plate is sitting on top of scrapbook paper for a placemat)

I bought some beautiful carnations at Costco.

These candle votives were left over from a baby shower I threw for my co-worker. I bought them at Ikea for $3.00 for a set of 6. And the small cake slice is an individual candle that came in a set. This was also a shower gift :)

The New Addition

On Tuesday we adopted a new kitten. We wanted a friend for Murphy.

This is Tiki and she's just 9 weeks old.

She's very active so it's hard to get a picture of her sitting still.

She's so small she fits inside my scrub top pocket!

And today we took both cats to my mother-in-law's where they sit outside on the patio with us and run around with all the kids. They were so tuckered out on the ride home. This is the first time we've caught the two cats cuddling with each other. We've been waiting all week for this :)

Show Us Your Life- The Wedding Dress

I'm so excited to join in on the sharing of the wedding dresses over at Kelly's Korner. She's hosting "Show Us Your Life" and this week is pictures of your wedding dress. Since I just got married in November, I'm supposed to be receiving the copyright to my professional pictures any day now. So the following pictures were taken by friends and family.

This picture was taken in the bridal suite at the church just moments before the ceremony started.

I really wanted to throw my bouquet off the beautiful steps of the church.

This picture shows the great beading detail on the bodice of the dress. My favorite part of the dress was the tulle across the bust.

Here is the detail of the back of the dress and a little bit of the bustle. My brother actually danced a whole dance with me- I was shocked and thrilled! You know how teenagers can be :)

My wedding day was the best day of my life thus far. I have never had so much fun and loved sharing such a special occasion with all of our friends and family.

Gettin' Things Done

Here are my apartment number pots with some succulents planted in them. Now I'm just trying to find a small table to put them on outside of our front door. Once again, to be continued...

I used the extra sticker letters to label my salt & pepper containers...

and to label the cat food jar.

A project in progress

Over the weekend, I decided to paint mini terra cotta pots with our address numbers on the front. We don't have apartment numbers on our front door so I thought I could use these in its place.

I first painted the pots with a white spray paint. Then I placed sticker address numbers to the front (after they had dried of course).

Then I sprayed the pots with a black spray paint- spraying over the numbers as well.

Then I peeled the numbers away once they were dry. And this is what was revealed.

The black bled through a little in some spots. My husband mentioned (of course after the fact) that I should have peeled the numbers when the paint was a little tacky and not fully dry. So I guess I'll try that next time.

I think I might just touch up the letters with some white paint and call it a day. When I get a chance, I want to pick up some succulents to put in the pots.

Time To Get Crafty

Here are some projects I plan to finish in the next week. I'm serious this time...it's going to be done!!!

First, are these plant pots with the address numbers on them. I plan to do this on a smaller scale.

And I am going to line my built-in cabinets in my dining room with wallpaper or decorative paper.
